The Seattle Seahawks are in serious discussions to sign a top-tier pass rusher as the NFL's free agency negotiating window heats up, according to multiple people familiar with the talks. The team has reportedly made a competitive offer to Pro Bowl defensive end Jaylon Harris, who recorded 13.5 sacks for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season and is widely considered the premier edge defender available this offseason.
Harris, 27, would fill a glaring need for a Seahawks defense that ranked 22nd in sacks last season with just 37 total. Seattle's front office has made improving the pass rush a top priority this offseason, and head coach Mike Macdonald has publicly stated his desire to add "difference-makers up front." League sources indicated that the Seahawks' offer is believed to be in the range of five years and $110 million, which would make Harris one of the highest-paid defensive players in franchise history.
However, the Seahawks face competition from the Las Vegas Raiders and Miami Dolphins, both of whom have expressed strong interest. Harris is expected to make a decision before the official start of free agency on March 12. If completed, the deal would represent the most significant Seahawks free agency signing since the team landed safety Quandre Diggs in 2021.
